    About Us

    Habits for a Better World is a nonprofit with a global community of 400+ volunteers focused on inspiring evidence-based habit changes that improve human and planetary health. We combine research, design, storytelling, and media—including social content and a feature documentary—to drive real-world behavior change at scale.

    The Role

    We are seeking a Volunteer Marketing & SEO Lead to help grow our reach, visibility, and impact. This role is ideal for someone who wants to apply strong marketing and SEO skills to a mission-driven initiative while working with an unusually talented, interdisciplinary team all committed to use their skills to make a better world.

    Please note that this is a voluntary position, as are all the positions in this organization.

    What You’ll Do

    • Develop and execute an SEO strategy to grow organic traffic and content reach

    • Optimize social media campaigns, blog posts, and landing pages for search and discoverability

    • Conduct keyword research and competitive analysis aligned with our mission areas

    • Track performance using analytics tools, work with our UX research team, and translate insights into actionable improvements

    • Collaborate closely across research, content, design, and technology teams

    Who You’ll Work With

    You’ll be part of a highly skilled, collaborative team that includes:

    • A PhD cognitive-behavioral scientist

    • An MA-trained cognitive-behavioral scientist

    • A PhD rhetoric specialist

    • A creative copywriter

    • Dedicated social media, website, AI assistant, and in-person activation teams

    • Direct collaboration with our two co-founders

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience in SEO, content marketing, or digital marketing (professional or advanced volunteer experience)

    • Strong understanding of on-page SEO, content optimization, and analytics

    • Comfort working independently in a distributed, volunteer-driven environment

    • Interest in health, sustainability, ethics, or social impact

    • Clear communicator who enjoys cross-disciplinary collaboration

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible; approximately 3–6 hours per week

    The Role

    We are seeking a Volunteer Fundraising Specialist to work alongside our Fundraising Lead to help us design and execute thoughtful, ethical, and effective fundraising initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who wants to apply fundraising expertise to a mission-driven organization and work closely with founders and a highly skilled interdisciplinary team.

    What You’ll Do

    • Co-develop and refine fundraising strategies aligned with our mission and values

    • Support campaigns such as individual giving, grants, sponsorships, and crowdfunding

    • Help craft clear, compelling fundraising narratives and donor-facing materials

    • Identify and research potential funding opportunities and partners

    • Advise on donor stewardship, transparency, and reporting best practices

    • Collaborate with marketing, content, and leadership teams to align fundraising and storytelling

    • Work directly with the two co-founders on priorities and strategy

    Who You’ll Work With

    You’ll collaborate with a strong, mission-focused team that includes:

    • PhD- and MA-trained cognitive-behavioral scientists

    • A PhD rhetoric specialist

    • A creative copywriter

    • Dedicated marketing, social media, website, AI assistant, and in-person activation teams

    • A global volunteer community contributing research, design, and filmmaking expertise

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, grant writing, or donor engagement

    • Strong strategic thinking and written communication skills

    • Comfort working in a distributed, volunteer-driven environment

    • High integrity and alignment with ethical fundraising principles

    • Interest in health, sustainability, ethics, or social impact

    • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with leadership

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible; approximately 3–6 hours per week, depending on availability and campaign timing

  • Location: Remote | Commitment: ~5–10 hrs/week | Start: Immediate

    We’re looking for a passionate volunteer junior copywriter to join our Habits for a Better World nonprofit team and help turn science-based insights into messages that spark action and inspire change.

    What you’ll do

    • Write clear, compelling, persuasive copy for social media campaigns, micro-stories, and short-form content.

    • Craft punchy headlines, sharp hooks, and memorable taglines to help our science-inspired content stand out.

    • Work alongside our senior copywriter and collaborate with colleagues with PhDs in psychology and rhetoric, to translate insights from generative research that our teams carried out into engaging, human-centered messaging to inspire behavior change for a better world.

    • Co-create with a social media team of designers.

    • Refine copy through iteration and feedback to maximize impact, clarity, and emotional resonance.

      What we’re looking for

    • Experience in advertising copywriting, brand writing, or creative copy (professional or volunteer).

    • A strong ability to write crisp, high-impact, scroll-stopping messages for social media.

    • A portfolio (short or long — even a few samples) that demonstrates strong craft in persuasive writing.

    • Creativity, open collaboration, and a love of using words to inspire positive change in the world.

    • A portfolio that demonstrates creativity, versatility, and the ability to communicate ideas visually.
